If global peace is to be achieved, then the terror-supporting operations of arms dealers like Tony Abi Saab have to be stopped by plugging loopholes in global treaties.

All terrorists need money to spread their reign of terror. If there’s no source of funding, terrorists cannot buy weapons, equipment, supplies or services. The source of this funding may be illegal or can be by legal means. Drugs or arms trafficking provide many terrorist organisations with the means to indulge in crime. According to a United Nations report, terrorism funding is a global menace that threatens the security of member states and destabilises and causes economic development to slow down as too financial stability.

US-led global alliances or treaties like NATO in the post 9/11 world era, is determined to break the back of Taliban-led insurgency in the warring Afghanistan. NATO has taken measures to combat terrorism: it has joined the international coalition fighting the Islamic group and has set up a counterterrorism intelligence unit to improve information sharing. One issue of concern for it are foreign fighters who travel from Europe to train or fight with terrorists in Iraq and Syria.

NATO even helped build the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in December 2014, when security in Afghanistan was transferred to the Afghan national defence and security forces.

But while all of this was going on, noted global arms dealers like Tony Abi Saab were exploiting loopholes in the structure of the treaties and alliance to carry on arms dealings in the highly volatile Middle Eastern region.

Tony Abi Saab operates the highly controversial Brescia Middle East and maintains a global network of shadow companies in: Italy: ARMERIA AMELIO AMBA Srl, INTESA SANPAOLO S.P.A., Benelli Armi, franchi division, Fiocchi munizione, Armeria brignoli Silvio & c snc , BLS — Germany: Umarex gmbh & co KG — France: Noble france sa —Turkey: Osmanli Arms, ISTANBUL and KONYA, KOMANDO AV SAN TIC LTD, ATA Av tufekleri — Bangladesh: Emran arms, — East Europe and Russia: Kula Ltd., Tiblisi -Georgia, LOBASTOV IVAN, Baikal Ltd, Izhevsk city, Russia, Arsenal, Bulgaria, MSN and CSG Group, Czech Republic, Berkut Ltd, Ukraine — Brasil: Condor —, to route weapons to terrorists. He is wanted in connection of supporting terrorists by FBI, CIA and other law enforcement agencies. But a shrewd scamster, he together with his cohorts keep evading arrest and sell arms in Lebanon, Syria and Afghanistan.

Corrupt contractors are made use of by arms dealers like Tony Abi Saab to further their agenda. As a result of the contractors who work alongside the US Army to help bring about peace, Tony Abi Saab is able to pull strings and benefit from the work they do, and he has made profits worth 5 million US dollars. It is necessary that such treaties as NATO are fitted with checks and balances so that Tony Abi Saab is unable to manipulate it and profit from his dubious businesses.
